There has been no good facility in Chittagong Port Jetty areas for refreshment and recreation for the foreign-ship crews while they visit our Port; whereas seafarers from  long voyages need a suitable place to rest, make Phone calls, Post letters, buy refreshment / souvenirs etc. Similar facilities are available in many big Ports wherefrom Seamen can fulfill their requirements by obtaining their personal items and a few souvenirs, sending Greeting cards etc. from the ‘Convenient Shop’, take a little leisure away from the boring life on board ship -in the ‘Recreation Room’, eat snacks and different-taste foods from the ‘Canteen’, plays a few indoor games in the ‘Games Corner’ which all are available in a common place called “Mariners Club” located inside the harbour area. In most of the modern Ports around the globe –there are Mariners Club run by “Stella Maris” and “Flying Angels” Missions to Seamen. We have full support toward their efforts in serving the Seamen across the Globe.

Arrived seafarers take short rest, make telephone call, browse internet, check E-Mail, use photo copy, laminates document, Airmails/Couriers letters/parcels to ‘near and dears’, avail light refreshment, watches TV channels, listen to music, cuts hair, launders clothings, mends clothes and plays indoor game like Table Tennis, Billiard, Carom, video game etc. in our Club. They buy items of regular need like personal Toiletries, Hygiene items, personal wearing apparels etc. and collects different types of gift items and souvenirs from convenient shop.

Chittagong Port, being a busy and considerably a big Port, need such facility for the seafarers coming from overseas. This is more felt by the seafarers when there is short-stay of vessel and/or crew find it difficult to go outside the harbour especially in the evening-time at the end of crews normal working hour. During the evening foreign crew also feel insecured to go outside.

Since such facilities are not available in Bangladeshi Port(s) -we, Oceanic Group Inc., have been offering these facilities to the foreign crew/seafarer who particularly after day’s work feel inconvenient to go to the city outside Port protected area especially in the evening time. Pertinently, what to speak of evening or night time, it has been abused then even in daytime whereas the foreign crew/seafarers have either been victim of attack or cheating that made it more fearable to foreign crew/seafarers visiting Bangladesh. So we have arranged, with the help of Authorities, a safe place for visiting Seafarers in side the Port.

Seafarers are immensely discovering-natured; they like to buy souvenirs etc. from different Ports. So, if we can provide or render such type of souvenir selling to them from the Mariners Club -it will help grow image of Bangladesh and we can perform a service-oriented business.
